"The power of photography is an odd one: it makes the photographed visible, yet removes them from their context. Over time, they become simply an imprint of a human being and nothing else. Very much present, yet somehow insignificant. What are we without our stories, after all? Not much more than an anthropomorphous sum of flesh and blood—or its photographic traces."
