Interviewed by a newspaper
The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper's Critic Lily Janiak invited me to sit down for a special event one-on-one video chat about the present and future of theatre in the SF Bay Area.

It was an honor to be "the person she called first" to talk about our theatre scene at the turning point of the first Covid lockdown and it is always a delight to spend time with Lily. Together, we looked at the questions and the story of this moment.

I truly value opportunities like this to have deep conversations that help bring an audience into what is new in my field and into what I am passionately seeking in my own practice.

(Joke is on me, because the things I was saying might happen "in a few months"... are just starting to happen now, over a year later... but I am still thinking a lot about the things we discussed... about healing, about how theatre teaches us to pay shared attention in community, and the role of what live art might be for us as we emerge.)

The Q&A crowd in the Zoom was a fun mix of fans, professionals, and curious folx who read The San Francisco Chronicle!
