🌐 Facebook is now Meta and commits to building the metaverse. It is true that Mark Zuckerberg's commitment to virtual reality is a huge driver for innovation but the metaverse is not new. Magic Leap envisioned basically the same open ecosystem for spatial computing and services and called it MagicVerse. This was back in 2018. Neil Stephenson, author of "Snow Crash" and creator of the term "metaverse" even worked for Magic Leap as Chief Futurist.
