In my article for the Vatichtov women's Torah writing fellowship, I'm exploring the relationship between the Written Torah and the Oral Torah (the tradition handed down from teacher to student over the generations) through a case study of the citron. The citron (etrog in Hebrew) is known to be the "fruit of the goodly tree" mentioned in the Bible. But how exactly do we know that that phrase refers to a citron?
