Today, I got an email from a hiring manager that I interviewed with 5 years ago, in which he said that I really left a lasting impression on him and his team, and would like me to come join them now. 5 years ago, they rejected me and told me I was overqualified. After being put through 9 rounds of interviews with them, I was absolutely devastated. At the time, I qualified that position/company as my "dream job" (joke is on me - there's no such thing as a dream job).
Today, I replied to his email with, "Thanks, but no thanks. I am happy where I am, and I really am overqualified now. And the salary is about 100k too low."
