Person Recognition and Tracking

During this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team of four individuals, and together, we achieved the remarkable feat of enabling our robot, Panther, to autonomously track and follow an individual. This project not only showcased our teamwork but also allowed me to hone my skills in computer vision techniques, specifically focusing on facial recognition and object detection. Our journey began with the goal of creating a robotic system capable of recognizing and tracking a person's movements. To accomplish this, we utilized cutting-edge computer vision technologies, which I found particularly fascinating and challenging. First and foremost, we delved into the realm of facial recognition. Implementing state-of-the-art algorithms, we taught Panther to identify and distinguish individual faces accurately. This involved handling complex tasks such as face detection, feature extraction, and matching, which pushed me to enhance my knowledge in this area. Simultaneously, we worked on refining Panther's object detection capabilities. We wanted the robot to be adept at identifying objects in its environment and, most importantly, tracking a specific individual. This phase of the project required a deep understanding of object detection models and their integration into our robotic system. Our hard work paid off when we successfully integrated these computer vision techniques into Panther's software. Watching Panther autonomously track and follow an individual was a truly gratifying experience. It was a testament to the dedication and skills of our team. This project not only enriched my knowledge of computer vision but also improved my ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting. It was a significant step forward in my journey as a robotics and computer vision enthusiast, and I look forward to applying the skills and insights gained from this experience in future projects.
