I am a product-focused software engineer with 9+ years of experience in native Android development. I am the author of two worldwide published Android programming 300+ page books and have been recognized by Google as the first (and only at this time) Google Developers Expert in Android in Pakistan.

Working with many companies around the globe remotely for more than 6 years and with a comprehensive knowledge of mobile development and design (especially Material Design), I am an excellent communicator in English, an enthusiastic team-mate with an eye for simplicity, and passionate for writing beautiful, pragmatic code and documentation. At my previous company (Airlift Technologies), I had led a team of 8 engineers to migrate an old legacy code to modern Android development with the best practices such as MVVM, Kotlin, Architecture Components, and testing. The result was improved productivity and a faster roll-out cycle to our more than a million customers using the Android app to place their orders.

I have also been a passionate open-source contributor with multiple Android libraries under my name which are widely being used in applications by developers around the world. Being in the open source world has taught me the understanding and concepts behind SDK development and how to create the public APIs and interfaces which allows a great developer experience for SDK users. I am also a technical blogs writer with over 100 articles and share my knowledge with the community around the world through my public speaking at conferences like Droidcon, Android Summit, DevFest UK, etc.

Mentored an Engineer

Mentored in Call-for-Papers workshop with Gerard Sans

I was invited to be a mentor in a Google-organized online workshop on creating Call-for-papers for conferences. The main trainer was Gerard Sans, who is a worldwide public speaker. He shared his experience about how conferences are organized and how call-for-papers are accepted through a committee. He then shared tips on how to create a good Call for papers proposal and how to choose title, elevator pitch and description.

After that, attendees were asked to create a call-for-paper proposal and those were shared with mentors including me. I helped 4 students with their proposals with sharing my feedback on improving title, elevator pitch etc.

Judge at Bazaar Technologies Hackathon Competition

I was one of the 6 judges at Bazaar Technologies (a Pakistan’s B2B marketplace and digital ledger platform Bazaar which raised $30 million) organized Hackathon competition. The theme of the hackathon was to provide a single day event where the teams worked towards innovations under the theme: Simplifying the lives of small businesses and merchants. There were 8 teams comprising 5-6 persons from different backgrounds like devs, designers, etc. They created designs, presentations, market analysis, business plan etc. Some had also created prototypes as well.

A person approached me on LinkedIn to ask for help in his work app where app was getting stuck on loading a screen. I helped him optimize it through the usage of coroutines and Fragments.
