Music Experience


1. Overview

  • Focus was to develop an innovative music experience that was both seamless and personalized, thereby elevating passenger comfort and enjoyment during their ride.
  • As a member of the Product Experience team, my focus was on orchestrating the overall user experience and the interface design. This involved understanding the intricate needs of passengers and translating them into product requirements.

2. Objectives

  • Seamless Shared Listening Experience: Our primary goal was to enable passengers to easily enjoy music during their ride, fostering a communal and enjoyable atmosphere.
  • Enhancing Passenger Comfort through Personalization: We aimed to tailor the music experience to individual preferences, allowing passengers to feel more at home riding in Zoox. 

3. Challenges

  • User-Friendly Controls: Designing a 'tap and play' interface that was straightforward and accessible for all users.
  • Audio System Integration: Balancing the music audio with essential auditory cues like chimes, alerts, and instructions.


Adaptive Lighting System:

  • Supported development of an ambient lighting system with sequences throughout rider journey.
  • Ensured the lighting design contributed to the overall comfort and mood of the cabin.


Sound Design:

  • Co-authored the in-cabin audio vision
  • Worked on integrating various cabin sounds, including chimes and alerts, harmoniously with the in-cabin music.
  • Focused on creating a sound environment that was informative yet non-intrusive.

Cabin Climate Control:

  • Supported re-design of a user-friendly climate control system.


Maps and Trip Information Interface:

  • Co-developed requirements for an interactive map and trip information system.
  • Ensured the display was intuitive, providing real-time updates and essential trip details in an easily accessible manner.
