I decided to take a leap of faith, to dive into the deep waters...

Break the barriers, cross the borders, get out of the comfort zone. Those words from Thor Heyerdahl nestled up in my mind:

Borders? I have never seen one.
But I have heard they exist… in the minds of some people.

Ok, putting mystery aside. I started my escape into New Zealand on the Working Holiday Visa. The previous year was the worst one in my life, leaving a big hole in my heart. So I had to clear my mind and quiet my soul to figure out what I wanted to do.

One thing I was certain of. I didn't want to continue working in digital marketing. I didn't particularly appreciate where this industry went.

So, I started to study software engineering on my own. I started to learn to deepen my understanding — one step at a time. My primary focus was a programming language I knew already - JavaScript.

I started to work from time to time on small tasks, errands to gain experience.

Spoiler alert. Life happened. I met amazing friends, and most importantly, my soulmate - Sally. She's Taiwanese. What the hell did she see in me back then? That's a mystery I struggle to solve until now. But, I am glad it happened, because life became even more full of surprises and adventures!
