Writing a book
Launched a Website
Just launched the website for my upcoming book, Running Start: How to Get a Job in Tech, Keep That Job, and Thrive!

I'm hoping it'll explain what I wish to accomplish with the book and that I'll be able to gauge interest. Make sure to subscribe for updates!

Writing a book
The first step is admitting it, so… I’M WRITING A BOOK!? It’s about how to get a job in tech, keep that job, and (hopefully) thrive. I’m writing it from a manager’s perspective and is basically all of the stuff I wish I would have known when I first started.

This book will hopefully be applicable to anyone in tech, but my target audience is anyone who isn’t stereotypically represented, including but not limited to: women, BIPOCs, self-taught, career switchers, bootcamp graduates, and many more.

My hope is that since the book is less technical in nature, it will be a good compliment to other books, like Wellington Johnson’s upcoming “The Beginning Software Engineer’s Playbook” and Emma Bostian’s “De-Coding The Technical Interview Process”.

Since I’m looking to represent as diverse a set of backgrounds and experiences as possible, I’d love to have a handful of people pre-reading for their honest opinion. If you’re interested, let me know! I’ve got 2.5 chapters of 11 written, so it’s still early in the process.

But I’m hopeful that telling people about this book will help push me to keep writing it!

Wrote a Manager Readme
I updated my Manager Readme to reflect the changes from my time at Wayfair to my time at Twitter. My Manager Readme is an important tool for people to understand how I work, what I value, and what to expect from me. One particularly notable addition this time around was a section on being autistic and what that means when interacting with me, particularly in a remote-only world.

Published a Medium post
My second article on Medium! I wrote about how unlimited PTO often gets a bad name, but it's really only as good as the culture that a company or manager creates around it. In order for unlimited PTO to be successful, a manager has to put intentional effort into making people feel comfortable and supported when taking PTO.

Published a Medium post
The first article that I published on Medium! It was about how companies often use “years of experience” as a requirement on job descriptions. I talked about why YOE is a horrible metric, biases applicant pools, and what you can do about it.

Started a new role at Twitter
Joining Twitter to manage their Media Client Infrastructure team! I'm really excited to get to learn more about how media works as well as to get to be a part of enabling conversations worldwide.
