"Leadership is the responsibility to see those around us rise, to take care of those around us...it's not about being in charge, it's about taking care of those in our charge".
As I read and
re-read this comment from the unshakeable optimist Simon Sinek. I've come to realise that it's true when he says that
we all have the ability to become the leaders we wish we had.
In my life from being the underachieving 3rd child of a teacher and doctor in the South Wales Valleys right up to today working as a senior web developer in Leeds (West Yorkshire). I've become aware of the need for us all to "see those around us rise". Because in doing so we all take on a sense of responsibility to model
integrity, compassion and empathy.
This is what I try to do in all walks of life knowing that
sometimes I'll mess up and
sometimes I'll get it right. But most importantly of all, I'm listening and learning as much as I can.
